High School Outreach 2025

Under the Uneswa Engineering Society and STEMPOWER initiative, I organized outreach programs for four Manzini high schools (Mbekelweni, Zombodze, Swazi National, St. Anne's), inspiring students, especially girls, to pursue STEM through hands-on workshops, live project demonstrations, and mentorship. The program featured ESCCOM Girls in ICT Scholarship sessions to promote funding opportunities.

In collaboration with the University of Eswatini and Royal Eswatini Sugar Corporation, I was part of organising team for outreach programs for nine Lubombo schools, engaging students with interactive AI, IoT, and electronics workshops. The initiative showcased practical STEM applications to inspire career paths in technology.

Climate and Social Advocacy: DHASA & Project Maai

Developed a multilingual NLP tool for DHASA to analyze YouTube transcripts, enhancing media research in Southern African languages. This led to development of Project Maai, initiative under climateXchange and Wits Centre for Journalism which aims to address a critical gap in climate change media.I served as Research Assistant under leadership of Dr Evans.

MTN Stemroot Project

Contributed under the Network design and architecture department to design a 3G WCDMA network in Mahlalini, Eswatini, connecting 749 homesteads with solar-powered infrastructure. The project, recognized with 1st place in MTN's NextGen STEM Challenge, provided e-learning, telemedicine, and agricultural data access.

As a core team member, I organized events like the 'Build with AI' session at American Corner Spaces, Manzini, focusing on Google technologies (Gemini AI, Vertex AI). Led development of a rural smart water monitoring system, fostering STEM innovation.

Power Systems Lecturer | Role Model | Trailblazer

Nothando Thwala has been a profound influence in both my academic and personal journey. As my Power Systems lecturer, she didn't just teach — she inspired. Her work ethic, clarity, and grace in leadership stood out in every lesson. She would often say, "Believe in yourself," — a simple yet powerful phrase that continues to guide me.

In one of her interviews, she shared the words "Dare to dream," a message that deeply resonated with me. Her boldness to break barriers and pursue new horizons — including her move to Ireland — showed me what it truly means to be courageous and purposeful in one's ambitions.

She exemplifies what it means to lead with strength and humility.

Dr. Thembelihle Dlamini

Final Year Supervisor | Computer Networks Lecturer | Mentor

I deeply admire Dr. Thembelihle's career path and his exceptional project execution skills. His global competence and research experience are truly outstanding, particularly through his work at MINT Labs in Taiwan. Dr. Thembelihle Dlamini played a pivotal role in my academic growth during my final year. As both my project supervisor and Computer Networks lecturer, his teaching style emphasized deep understanding and real-world application over mere exam success. His patience, guidance, and technical expertise supported me throughout my final year project journey.

Beyond the classroom, his thoughtful advice on navigating life after graduation helped shape my mindset and ambitions. His expertise in innovative tech solutions and global collaboration continues to influence my own professional journey.His humility and commitment to contributing to national projects outside of his academic role inspired me to also strive to use my knowledge — however small — to make a meaningful impact in society.

Dr. Evans

Project MAAI Team Lead | Journalism & Mass Communication Lecturer | Mentor

Although from a different department, Dr. Evans has had a significant impact on my professional journey. As a Journalism and Mass Communication lecturer and the team lead for Project MAAI, he opened doors for me beyond the classroom. Through his mentorship, I was selected to participate in the DHASA Hackathon — an experience that greatly enriched my skills and confidence.

He later recruited me as a research assistant under Project MAAI, where his patience, especially during moments when I struggled to grasp certain concepts and technical skills, helped me grow immensely. I admire his humility, his dedication to empowering students, and his global reach — working on projects with real-world impact far beyond the borders of Africa. His example inspires me to pursue excellence with purpose and confidence.

Eng. Sanele Motsa

Electrical Engineer at Royal Eswatini Sugar Corporation | Internship Supervisor

Sanele Motsa was my internship supervisor during my attachment under the Electrical Department at Royal Eswatini Sugar Corporation. He played a crucial role in helping me connect theoretical knowledge from the classroom with real-world applications in the sugar plant. Under his guidance, I deepened my understanding of core electrical concepts through hands-on exposure and plant-based learning.

Through his guidance and detailed feedback, I came to understand that technical skillsets are just as important — if not more — than theoretical knowledge. This realization became a turning point for me. When I returned to university, I intentionally sought out hands-on projects to strengthen my practical abilities and better prepare for real-world challenges.

His strong work ethic and high standards motivated me to put my best effort into every task and report. His feedback taught me to think critically, reflect on my learning, align my theoretical background with real maintenance and operational procedures, and take ownership of my growth. That experience not only improved my technical reporting but also shaped my professional mindset moving forward.

Eng. Nkosinathi Ndzinisa

Electrical Engineering Manager at Royal Eswatini Sugar Corporation | Mentor

While he was in a senior role, I did not report to him directly during my internship, Mr. Nkosinathi Ndzinisa, the Electrical Engineering Manager, became an impactful mentor through our regular engagements. Despite his senior role, he always took time to offer guidance and support whenever I approached him — a quality that reflected his humility and genuine leadership.

I admired his strong work ethic, professionalism, and his respectful treatment of everyone, regardless of status. In one of our conversations, I asked him how he reached such heights in his career, and he generously shared his journey. From that interaction, I gained valuable insights about the importance of hard work, commitment, and consistency. His example showed me what it means to lead with integrity and purpose — lessons I carry with me as I continue to grow in my career.

Dr. Mzabalazo Lupupa

Digital Signal Processing Lecturer | Project Guide | Mentor

Dr. Mzabalazo Lupupa taught me Digital Signal Processing, and his commitment, enthusiasm, and dedication to teaching left a lasting impression on me. His approach to delivering complex content with clarity and patience played a huge role in our understanding of the course — and was a key reason many of us succeeded in it.

Beyond the classroom, Dr. Lupupa supported us in the Rural Smart Water Project, guiding us through every stage until the final presentation. His willingness to help, especially during challenging phases, showed a level of dedication that continues to inspire me. His work ethic motivates me to approach my own responsibilities with the same passion and drive.

Jacqueline Stephen Chinwe

Energy Strategist | Media Personality | Female Leader in STEM | Mentor

Jacqueline Stephen Chinwe is a powerhouse in the global energy space and a shining example of female leadership in STEM. Her presence and influence in such a male-dominated field deeply inspired me. Her journey proves that women not only belong in engineering and energy — they can lead it. I am grateful to contribute to Inergy², an initiative to transform Africa's energy future under her leadership.

Her impact stretches across continents and sectors, from oil and gas to offshore wind, nuclear, and LNG. What I admire most is her ability to break down complex issues, spark global conversations, and push for equity, innovation, and inclusion — all while remaining technically grounded.

Jacqueline's example challenges the status quo, and her fearless leadership inspires me to dream bigger, lead with purpose, and use my voice to contribute meaningfully to the future of energy.

Vusumuzi Dube

Vusumuzi Dube is a seasoned Civil Engineering Technologist with over 15 years of experience in water engineering and the construction industry.
